INFORMATION NEED AND INFORMATION PROBLEM
Wilson (1999), considers information use to incorporate individuals' physical and mental acts to join information into their current base of knowledge. Utilization of information is imagined as the last phase of a cycle that starts with acknowledgment of a information need, which leads to information problem. In my own opinion information problem is when users need has been recognized, individuals look for information to address that issue, and afterward they apply or utilize the information that is found. This cycle is iterative and complex, and it is affected by various elements.
The reasons why individuals don't utilize information are numerous and complex. Laura Brick (1999) led an investigation of the non-utilization of information that was accessible in a work environment business library. She found that non-users were unaware of the information that was accessible to them. In addition, they would in general delegate information looking to subordinates, who might utilize the library, they were not information cognizant, and did not see the need to get information for their day by day undertakings and choices.
Information problem incorporates two concepts, which are information explosion and information overload. Information explosion is the rapid increase in the amount of published information or data and the effects of this abundance. As the amount of available data grows, the problem of managing the information becomes more difficult, which can lead to information overload. Information overload also known as infobesity, infoxication, information anxiety.Information explosion is the difficulty in understanding an issue and effectively making decisions when one has too much information about that issue, and is generally associated with the excessive quantity of daily information.
Yourself (as end user)
Users do not have the foggiest idea or they do not have a clue as to which required or accessible for their field. Users may not know what question to ask,as end users they may lack the necessary mental model or context of a problem to know how to articulate a request for help.
In addition, users regularly do not have a clue where to look, for exaple an individual may have an inquiry or issue however not realize where to go for help. An individual may need relational abilities, as he or she might not have the language aptitudes needed to request help, or an individual may show unordinary social conduct that impedes correspondence.
An intermediary (like a professional) who conducts the search on your behalf
Intiermediary know the type of sources that exist, the accessibility of helpful in open libraries. In addition inormation required may not exist, as someone may require a specific total of information to settle on a choice, yet that information has never been gathered.
Information specialist can assist in directing or gathering that information for the end user who awaits to use it. An individual may need certainty or capacity, government data accessible just through online stands will be unavailable to individuals who come up short on the certainty or the specialized aptitudes to utilize PCs, but can help in assisting the user retrieve their information.
CONCLUSION
Information problems arises when we have identified the information need. Intermediary users know relatively everything covered in that field of study, it is wise that end users learn ways of reaching to them. Information they need can be accurate and retrieved on time than having an abundance of information which is worthless to their study.
Good discussion Oscar. It seems you used a short cut of copy and paste such that the document writes long lines instead of paragraph. Good reflection all the same
